    All roles in IM’s management team are unpaid. IM provides a great opportunity for you to volunteer, contribute to Indonesia, find a platform to harness your skills, and expand your network.

     

    Below are the different roles that you can apply for: 

    1. Content Director [3] – recruiting 2 guest contributors per month, managing 1 columnist, scheduling and editing 3 articles/month for publication in IM’s website, and handling special editorial publications as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief;

     

    1. Columnists [4] – working closely with Content Director in publishing 1 article per month for publication in IM’s website;

     

    1. Mentorship Coordinators [2] working closely with Director of Mentorship in handling the various aspects of IM’s annual mentorship program, including outreach, smooth admission process with fair pairing of mentors and mentees, as well as commendable delivery of quality curriculum;

     

    1. Events & Partnerships
    • Director of Events & Partnerships [1] – ensuring good management and smooth delivery of IM’s offline events, speaking engagements, and external partnerships;
    • Events & Partnerships Officer [1] – working closely with Director of Events & Partnerships in managing and ensuring smooth delivery of IM’s offline events, speaking engagements, and external partnerships;

     

    1. Communications
    • Director of Communications [1] – responsible for IM’s overall outreach strategy and activities, including designing annual communications plan, ensuring branding consistency across all communications materials, managing Social Media Lead and Videographer to deliver the agreed annual communications plan, and working closely with Editor-in-Chief to push special content on IM’s social media and Youtube channel.
    • Videographer [1] – responsible for filming and editing videos for IM’s YouTube channel and social media, and playing a leading role in developing IM’s video profile in coordination with Director of Communications;

     

    1. Fundraising Coordinators [2] – working closely with Director of Fundraising in establishing guidelines for IM’s fundraising strategies as a non-profit organization, as well as liaising with donors and sponsors to scale and ensure sustainability of IM’s impacts;

     

    1. Analytics
    • Director of Analytics [1] – overseeing research/data analysis and formulating strategic, data-driven insights to enhance the various aspects of IM’s work, as well as communicating them to IM Division Directors, IM Foundation Board of Directors, donors, and external partners as appropriate;
    • Analytics Officers [2] – in coordination with Director of Analytics, providing research/data analysis support and generating data-driven insights for the various aspects of IM’s work.

     

    1. Director of IT [1]overseeing and enhancing the performance of IM’s online infrastructure system, and providing automation support for the various aspects of IM’s work.

    EDITORIAL

    CONTENT DIRECTORS

    We are looking for 3 Content Directors for: a) Asia/Middle East/Africa and b) Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands regions to be part of our Editorial team.

     

    Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, Content Directors play an important role in assisting our valued contributors and columnists to ensure timely publication of quality articles on studying or pursuing professional opportunities abroad. They are also expected to honor our guest contributors and columnists by responding to their questions or concerns promptly and guiding them through the publication process in a professional manner.

     

    If you enjoy Editorial work and networking with Indonesian students who are keen to share their inspiring stories, this position is for you!

     

    Nature of the position

    This is an unpaid (voluntary) position for the period of February 1, 2019 – January 31, 2020. The Director is expected to commit on average 5-6 hours per week during the period. This person will report to the Editor-in-Chief. As the work is done remotely, the Director can be based anywhere.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Working closely with Editor-in-Chief, Columnist, and other regional Content Directors to manage IM’s publications;
    • Overseeing the whole editorial cycle for your designated region, from recruiting 2 guest Contributors per month, managing Columnist, to editing, scheduling, and publishing articles;
    • Responding to columnist and contributors’ emails and messages in a timely manner, within a maximum of 3 days;
    • Publishing 3 articles per month – 2 articles from guest contributors that the Content Director solicited or are referred to by IM’s management, and 1 article from columnist;
    • Writing attractive captions/blurbs to promote IM’s articles to target audience;
    • Bringing in new contributors from personal network, apart from assisting those who have signed up to contribute through our site;
    • Handling special editorial publications as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief;
    • Contributing actively to IM’s editorial strategy formulation.

    Who are we looking for?

    A Content Director must:

    • Be Indonesian, either: a) a current student or b) an alumni of higher education institutions abroad in the region(s) this person has selected;
    • Be communicative and responsive to the intense online communications with contributors and fellow team members;
    • Be punctual and be committed to work tight deadlines;
    • Be proficient in using Office applications, including Ms. Word, project management application, and WordPress blogging templates. Knowledge of HTML programming language is a plus.
    • Have considerable network to Indonesian students, professionals, and or alumni, preferably in the region this person has selected;
    • Have good people management and interpersonal skills;
    • Be able to write well in English and Indonesian. Prior editorial, vlogging, and or blogging experience is a plus.

     

    COLUMNISTS

    We are looking for 4 Columnists for: a) Asia/Middle East/Africa, b) North and Latin America, c) UK/Europe, and d) Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands to be part of our core team.

     

    Reporting to Content Directors, Columnists share their experiences or others’ through monthly articles. If you often find yourself over-sharing or bursting with stories about studying or working abroad, you are born for this position!

     

    Nature of the position

    This is an unpaid (voluntary) position for the period of February 1, 2019 – January 31, 2020. The columnist is expected to commit on average 5 hours per month during the period. This person will report to the Content Directors of their selected region. As the work is done remotely, the columnist can be based anywhere.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Working closely with Content Director of the designated region in publishing 1 article per month (in English or Indonesian), which is aimed at fostering a better understanding of studying/pursuing professional opportunities abroad or life upon return to Indonesia from year(s) abroad;
    • Working on special editorial tasks as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief.

    Who are we looking for?

    A columnist must:

    • Be Indonesian, either a) a current student or b) an alumni of higher education institutions abroad in the region(s) this person has selected;
    • Be passionate and confident in writing in English or Indonesian. Prior academic writing or blogging experience is a plus;
    • Be punctual and committed to adhere to deadlines;
    • Be communicative and responsive to online communication with Content Director and fellow team members;
    • Be proficient in using Office applications, including Ms. Word. Familiarity with WordPress blogging templates and Photoshop is a plus;
    • Considerable network to Indonesian students, professionals, and or alumni, preferably in the designated region, is a plus.

    MENTORSHIP

    MENTORSHIP COORDINATORS

    We are looking for 2 mentorship coordinators to assist our annual IM Mentorship program, a 3-month program that goes from July to September of each year. We match Indonesians who have studied abroad with those seeking to study abroad to facilitate intensive exchange of knowledge, stories, and experiences on a range of topics on gaining acceptance in school(s) abroad and scholarships. This mentorship program is free of charge, hence accessible to people from various socio-economic backgrounds.

     

    Mentorship coordinators will be working closely with our Director of Mentorship to ensure successful outreach and promotion of the program, smooth admission process with fair pairing of mentors and mentees, and commendable delivery of quality curriculum. If you are intrinsically driven to help Indonesian students improve the prospects of their University/scholarship application for studies abroad, this position is for you!

     

    Nature of the position

    Mentorship coordinators are expected to commit on average 1-2 hours per week, with peak working hours (up to 4 hours per week) in the months of May – September 2018 (recruitment, onboarding, and execution stage). As the work is done remotely, this person can be based anywhere.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    Mentorship coordinators will work with Director of Mentorship to oversee and execute the 4 aspects of IM’s annual mentorship program:

    1. Promotion

    The objective of the promotion phase is to reach out to as many prospective mentors and mentees as possible and get the words out about the benefits of the mentorship program. Tasks during the promotion phase include:

    • Coordinating with Director of Analytics and Director of IT to complete database of past IM mentees and mentors;
    • Gathering testimonials from past mentees and mentors as promotional resources;
    • Working with the Communications team to create posters to promote the program through our social media channels;
    • Coordinating with the Editor-in-Chief to post mentorship announcements.

     

    1. Admission

    Our mentorship program pairs each mentee with a suitable mentor and attempts to provide opportunities to as many mentees as there are qualified mentors. The pairing considers the preferences of both mentors and mentees to ensure a fair process and sustainable mentor-mentee relationship. This is done by requesting mentors/mentees to pick and rank their top mentees/mentors and honoring these rankings during pairing. The mentorship application opens for both mentors and mentees simultaneously for a period of 1 month. Tasks during the admission phase include:

    • Preparing application forms for mentors and mentees;
    • Responding promptly to questions raised by prospective mentors and mentees during the application period;
    • Screening mentee applicants (typically no more than 20) for popular mentors. Note that this will be the most time-consuming task for the admission phase.

     

    1. Curriculum

    Our mentorship program consists of the following legs: resume, school choice, standardized tests, and funding plan, essays, letter of recommendation, and conclusion. An assignment is distributed at the beginning of each leg and must be submitted before the start of the next leg. Tasks for our mentorship curriculum include:

    • Updating assignments based on last year’s templates and evaluations;
    • Organizing seminars/workshops to allow learning from successful experiences of mentors and past mentees, and to discuss each application component in detail;
    • Coming up with new initiatives to further improve the quality of the mentorship;
    • Tracking assignment submission.

     

    1. External Partnerships

    The mentorship is expected to look for external partnership that can scale up the mentorship program or provide some test fees waiver for the mentees.

    Mentorship Coordinators must:

    • Be a student or alumni of higher education institution overseas with an Indonesian background;
    • Have strong intrinsic motivation to help Indonesian students improve their prospects of being accepted in schools abroad and scholarships;
    • Be able to set aside sufficient time to deliver the program, especially during peak periods of May – September 2018;
    • Be communicative and responsive to the intense online communications with mentors, mentees, and fellow team members;
    • Be able to work independently as well as in team settings;
    • Be punctual and committed to work tight deadlines.

    COMMUNICATIONS

     

    DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

    Reporting to IM President, Director of Communications will be responsible for IM’s overall outreach strategy and activities, including designing communications plan, ensuring branding consistency across all communications materials, coordinating Social Media Lead and Videographer to deliver the agreed annual communications plan, and working closely with Editor-in-Chief to push special content on IM’s social media and YouTube channel.

     

    Nature of the position

    Director of Communications are expected to commit on average 4-5 hours per week, with peak working hours (up to 3-4 hours per week) in the months of February, April, May, July, August, and December 2018 (intensive preparations for IM’s programs and events). This person will report directly to IM President. Director of Communications can be based anywhere, but residence in Indonesia (Jakarta) is a plus.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Developing IM’s annual communications plan in coordination with Editor-in-Chief to boost readers to our website and increase our organizational visibility;
    • Developing brand guidelines for IM and ensure its consistency across IM’s communications materials;
    • Managing Social Media Lead and Videographer;
    • Preparing content calendar for execution by Social Media Lead;
    • Overseeing the day-to-day social media management by Social Media Lead. This may include occasional visual design for social media posts and social media posting;
    • Increasing our social media followers and impacts, including managing performance metrics;
    • With the help of Social Media Lead, soliciting videos of campus tours and/or students and alumni testimony from IM’s contributors and readers;
    • With the help of Social Media Lead, contacting potential guest profiles for interview and other collaboration opportunities;
    • Supervising the production of IM’s video profile in coordination with Director of Analytics, Videographer, Director of Events & Partnerships, and Editor-in-Chief;
    • Preparing a working timeline for Videographer, in coordination with Director of Events & Partnerships and Editor-in-Chief.

     

    Who are we looking for?

    Director of Communications must:

    • Have prior experiences in PR, media relations, communications, and marketing;
    • Be willing to learn about social media metrics to measure the performance of our social media posts;
    • Be up-to-date with the latest social media trends, so that we can generate lessons learned for development of IM’s social media accounts;
    • Relevant experience in visual design is a plus;
    • Be comfortable working with social media management tools, such as Hootsuite. Experience in video shooting and editing is a plus;
    • Have good people management skills;
    • Have fluid, conversational writing skills in both Indonesian and English. Prior editorial, vlogging, and or blogging experience is a plus.

     

    VIDEOGRAPHER

    Reporting to the Director of Communications, the videographer will be responsible for filming and editing videos for IM’s YouTube channel and social media.

     

    Nature of the position

    This role requires a 3-4 hours’ weekly time commitment on average, and occasional attendance at IM’s speaking engagements, interviews, or events to film raw footage as appropriate. This person has to be based in Jakarta.

    Who are we looking for?

    Videographer must:

    • Relevant experiences in videography and photography. Experience making a company/organizational video profile is a big plus;
    • Own/have solid access to video equipment and video editing software;
    • Have demonstrated proficiency at utilizing video equipment and video editing software;
    • Be punctual and committed to adhere to deadlines;
    • Have high level of energy, creativity, and initiative;
    • Be communicative and responsive to online communication with Director of Communications and fellow team members.

    Director of Events & Partnerships

    Nature of the position

    Director of Events & Partnerships are expected to commit on average 4 hours per week during the period, and occasional meetings with external partners as appropriate. This person will report to IM President. This person has to be based in Jakarta.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Leading the execution of IM’s annual seminar and other offline events in coordination with Events & Partnership Officers;
    • Supervising the drafting of Memorandum of Understandings (when needed) for projects with external parties;
    • Managing projects held in collaboration with external partners;
    • Managing Officers in building a pipeline of potential partnership opportunities;
    • Acting as a focal point for existing and potential partners’ questions and queries;
    • Supervising the drafting of concept notes or pitch documents to prepare and facilitate partnership building;
    • Relationship management with existing and potential partners (embassies, universities, schools, media, businesses, non-profit organizations, governments);
    • Together with IM President and other team Directors, strategic planning of IM’s various activities throughout the year.

     

    Events & Partnerships Officer

    Nature of the position

    The Events & Partnership Officer is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period, and occasional meetings with the team or external partners as appropriate. This person has to be based in Jakarta.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Organizing IM’s annual seminar and other offline events;
    • Supporting Director of Events & Partnership in managing projects held in collaboration with external partners;
    • Building a pipeline of potential partners for IM;
    • Relationship management with existing and potential partners (embassies, universities, schools, media, businesses, non-profit organizations, governments);
    • Drafting concept notes or a pitch document to prepare and facilitate partnership building;
    • Prepare Memorandum of Understandings (when needed) for projects with external parties.

    Nature of the position

    Officers are expected to commit on average 4 hours per week during the period, and occasional meetings with external partners as appropriate. They must be based in Jakarta.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Supporting the Director of Fundraising in establishing guidelines for IM as a non-profit organization in looking for fundraising opportunities;
    • Supporting the Director of Fundraising in crafting programs which will cater to the needs of both IM and donors;
    • Identifying potential partners and donors for fundraising opportunities;
    • Managing projects held in collaboration with external partners;
    • Relationship management with external partners or donors;
    • Drafting concept notes or pitch documents for fundraising or business proposal;
    • Developing a comprehensive report addressed to donors.

    ANALYTICS

     

    We are looking for 3 team members to be part of our core team in the Analytics division – 1 Director of Analytics and 2 Analytics Officers.

    The Analytics team has gained reputation as IM’s in-house consultancy arm with deep involvement in all aspects of IM’s activities. From editorial, mentorship, social media, all the way to events & partnerships, this team provides invaluable, data-driven insights to improve the planning, execution, and post-activity stages.

    DIRECTOR OF ANALYTICS

    Nature of the position

    Director of Analytics is expected to commit on average 4 hours per week. This person will report to IM President.  As the work is done remotely, this person can be based anywhere.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    To oversee and advise on direction of IM’s entire activities through data analysis and data-driven policy recommendations.

    • Providing strategic insights for and managing Analytics Officers in gathering and analyzing data from our website, social media, mentorship, and events & partnerships;
    • Oversee the formulation of an IM Analytics report (complete with actionable policy recommendations) every 3 months, addressed to IM Foundation Board as well as donors and external partners as appropriate;
    • Communicate the results of IM Analytics report to IM Division Directors and IM Foundation Board, complete with actionable policy recommendations;
    • Together with IM President and other Division Directors, strategic planning of IM’s various activities throughout the year.

     

    Who are we looking for?

    Director of Analytics must:

    • Be Indonesian;
    • Be proficient in using data visualization and web analytics software, e.g. Tableau and Piwik;
    • Have relevant experience in data analysis. Experience in data analysis for non-profit organizations is a plus;
    • Be communicative and responsive to the online communication between team members;
    • Be punctual and committed to working tight deadlines;
    • Have good people management skills;
    • Be capable of writing and communicating research findings and policy recommendations in English and Indonesian.

     

    ANALYTICS OFFICERS

    Reporting to Director of Analytics, Officers provide research and data analysis support on various aspects of IM’s work.

    • Gathering and analyzing data from our website, social media, mentorship, and events & partnerships;
    • Formulating IM Analytics report (complete with actionable policy recommendations) every 3 months addressed to IM Division Directors and IM Foundation Board;
    • Together with Director of Analytics, IM President, and other Division Directors, strategic planning of IM’s various activities throughout the year.

    We are looking for 1 person to join IM’s core team as Director of IT. This person will report directly to IM President.

     

    DIRECTOR OF IT

    Nature of the position

    Director of IT is expected to commit on average 2 hours per week. However, this person is expected to provide prompt response whenever pressing technical issues occur. As the work is done remotely, this person can be based anywhere.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Overseeing the performance of IM’s online infrastructure system and troubleshooting whenever technical issues arise;
    • Developing strategies to improve IM’s online system security and website performance;
    • Providing effective automation support for the various aspects of IM’s work, including annual mentorship program and recruitment.

    • Academic degree in IT or computer science is a plus.
