Gunawan led one of industry’s most improving credit performance for the SCB Consumer Bank in Indonesia, covering the market-leading unsecured Personal Loan, Credit Cards, Mortgage, Small and Medium Enterprises asset products. Besides his main role as the country head for collections, he was trusted to assume acting Country Credit Head for almost one year in 2010-2011. Gunawan has more than 11 years experience in credit roles and has achieved record low credit loss and delinquency performance throughout multiple turn-around successes – from oil price hike inflation, multiple portfolio crises, to significant regulation changes. He started his career at Citibank as Management Associate in 2001, and later joined Barclays to set up their Indonesia credit operations infrastructure. He also has exposure in the Thailand and Philippines markets as part of the peer review groups. Gunawan is fond of innovation and management research and has published an Indonesia nation-wide management book, “Micro Stories, Macro Meaning”. Gunawan received the prestigious Ancora Foundation fellowship to participate in the Stanford Sloan Master’s Program.
